Self Portrait is an exploration of identity and self expression. Painted primarily in acrylic with subtle oil pastel details, the piece was inspired by the juxtaposition of decay and vibrant colour found in late October landscapes.
The fluidity of the medium allowed me to create soft, bleeding edges that mirror the sensation of mist rolling over the hills, while sharper, more defined brushstrokes were used to ground the composition and guide the viewer’s eye.
